Getting hungry?

With so many things to do, your stomach will sooner or later start to growl! Luckily, there are some culinary highlights in Bonn that you should definitely try.

Specialities of the region

Like every region, Bonn and the surrounding area are also known for typical regional dishes. In addition to the not quite low-calorie Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cake), you should definitely try a Rhenish Sauerbraten ("sour roast") on your trip to Bonn. If you're feeling a little peckish, we recommend the "Halve Hahn", which you'll find on almost every menu in the Rhineland. This is not chicken, by the way, but a "Röggelchen" (rye roll) with butter, Gouda and mustard. And for the adventurous: "Himmel un Ääd", a wild mix of mashed potatoes and apple sauce, often served in combination with fried black pudding and roasted onions. Mhhh...

Restaurant Strandhaus

Attention gourmets! The Strandhaus in Bonn's old town emphasises high quality and a charming ambience. There is something for every gourmet on the varied menu of gourmet cuisine.

Let’s have a drink

Off through the pedestrian zone

Every shopping tour should start in the pedestrian zone. Here you will find a colourful selection of shops to suit every taste. And if you get hungry in between, you can snack your way through the selection of snack bars and restaurants. By the way, Bonn's pedestrian zone is one of the oldest in the country.

huma shopping world

About 20 minutes from the city centre in Sankt-Augustin, you'll find the largest shopping centre in the region: the huma Shoppingwelt. Here you can find everything your fashion heart desires!

For all mall fans who don't want to leave the city centre, we recommend the Maximiliancenter right next to Bonn's main railway station. After a temporary closure due to flood damage, it has been shining again in new splendour since summer 2022.
